Transitioning from Football to Winter Sports: Gearing Up for Wrestling, Basketball, and New Opportunities
As the football season winds down, with the West Cabarrus Wolverines set for at least two more games, it's time to shift our focus from the dynamic outdoor fields to the fast-paced indoor courts and mats. Winter sports are just around the corner, and with them come new opportunities for action-packed photography and storytelling.
Wrestling will be front and center, of course, with the intensity and agility unique to the sport. There's nothing like the atmosphere of a wrestling match, where every moment and move counts. Basketball will bring a different energy, with team dynamics and quick transitions, and swim meets are always a joy to capture as athletes push against their own limits in pursuit of personal bests.
This season, however, there's something new on my radar—a potential opportunity to cover CWEA (Carolina Winter Ensemble Association) events. A friend’s daughter is involved, and CWEA brings a creative mix of music, dance, and pageantry, adding an artistic twist to the usual sports schedule. It will be a refreshing change and an exciting chance to capture the skill and precision these ensembles bring to each performance.
Aside from these projects, I expect the usual routine will carry on: editing, client sessions, and perhaps a few holiday-themed shoots as we edge toward the end of the year. But with each new season comes new chances to try something different, meet new people, and witness the dedication athletes bring to their sports. Here’s to a winter filled with steady lighting, intense action, and all the moments that make these sports seasons unforgettable!
